Three Oaks advances in playoffs with win over Martin

Three Oaks football entered the postseason on Tuesday after claiming the West Tennessee Athletic Conference Championship and assured itself of another week of football as the Choctaws defeated Martin 20-6 at Three Oaks in the first round of the TMSAA Playoffs.

Three Oaks got the scoring off started in a big way with a 90-yard, 12-play drive. The Choctaws scored with 1:28 left in the second quarter when Brylan Hatch hit an open Landon Todd for a for a 15-yard touchdown pass. The two-point failed but Three Oaks took their 6-0 lead into the half.

Three Oaks added to its lead in the third quarter. A Nate Vick interception set up the second score of the game for the Choctaws. The ensuing drive was capped by a one-yard Ryan Sartin touchdown run to extend the orange and white lead to 12-0 with 31 seconds left in the third quarter after the two-point attempt failed.

The Choctaw defense continued to play well as a Zay Bowen and Crawford Childress caused fumble was scooped by Ryder Korn and returned 40 yards for the touchdown. Hatch hit Todd for a two-point conversion to extend the Three Oaks lead to 20-0 with with 4:06 left in the game.

Though Martin tacked on a late touchdown to cut the Three Oaks lead to 14 with just under three minutes left, the Choctaws were able to hold on for the win and advance to the second round.

The Choctaws will take on Paris Inman, who defeated Northview 44-12 in Paris on Tuesday, at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday night at Three Oaks in the second round of the TMSAA Playoffs.
