Who says there's nothing to do in downtown Dyersburg?

The Dyersburg-Dyer County Arts Council hosted its first Open Mic Night on Saturday, October 12, at the downtown Pocket Park, a charming venue with plenty of room for the small crowd that came out to sit and listen to the night's act, while grabbing a cup of coffee from Misfit Militia or a slice of pizza from Alvino's across the street.

The event offered up a variety of local entertainers including musicians Rachel Taylor, Taylor Hutching, Sturm, and magician Joe M. Turner.

The Arts Council has expressed interest in making Open Night Mic a monthly event that would draw more attention to the downtown area. Locals are encouraged to attend or sign up to perform. Sponsors for the event included Ermco-Eci, Security Bank, Develey, and Simmons Bank.
