SPECIAL TO THE STATE GAZETTE

Dyersburg, Tennessee – The Alpha Epsilon Alpha (AEA) chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), an academic honorary society, at Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) inducted eight new members at the annual induction ceremony on October 3. The event was held in the Student Center at the Dyersburg Campus.

The inductees included Ashley Goodman of Arlington, Gavin Click of Dyersburg, Hannah Rosser of Millington, Carrington Rose and Shekia Alston of Munford, Adrien Cermak of Newbern, Shantrice Sanders of Paris, and Olivia Holden of Somerville.

The goal of PTK is to recognize its members’ academic achievements and provide an opportunity for them to become actively involved in student life at DSCC. As members of the society, students should exemplify its four hallmarks: scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship. The Chapter Induction ceremony celebrates student success and commitment to academic excellence. “The Phi Theta Kappa induction ceremony celebrates our students’ achievements and commitment to excellence in academics and community service. It’s wonderful for new inductees to share this special moment with their loved ones as they are poised to lead our community and industry,” said Daniel Inghram, Chapter Advisor.

To be invited into membership in the society, students must meet the following criteria: a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher, completion of 12 hours of college-level courses at DSCC, completion of all college preparatory requirements, and current enrollment in six semester hours or more at DSCC.

Dyersburg State is immensely proud of this year's PTK inductees and looks forward to seeing the aspirations of each member come to fruition.
