The season came to an end for the Dyersburg boys golf team on Monday as the Trojan linksters finished the Region 8A Tournament as the tournament runner-up at The Links Golf Course in Memphis.

Dyersburg was led by John David Morris, who finished his round a 77. Jayce Ellerbrook brought his season to a close with an 84 while Ryan Wesson shot an 88 in the tournament. Thaxton Coppage rounded out the Trojan scoring with a 94 on the day.

The Trojans' total of 343 was just six shots off the pace of region champion Madison Magnet's 337.

However, the season will continue for one Dyersburg Trojan as Morris' total was low enough to place him among the individual qualifiers for the TSSAA Class A State Tournament.

Morris will take part in the state tournament for the second straight year as he was part of last year's Trojans, who advanced as a team. This also marks the third straight season in which at least one Dyersburg golfer has advanced to the TSSAA state tournament.

The TSSAA Class A State Tournament gets underway on Monday at Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville. The tournament will last two days with the competition ending on Tuesday.
