Deborah "Debbie" JoAnne Dennison

Deborah "Debbie" JoAnne Dennison, born on February 19, 1965, in Dyersburg, TN, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024, in Jackson, TN, at the age of 59. She was the beloved daughter of Clyde Smith and the late Barbara Burns Smith.

Debbie was a dedicated registered nurse, whose kindness, compassion, and selflessness touched countless lives throughout her career. Her patients could personally call her any time of day and many became close friends. Her devotion to caring for others extended far beyond her profession, as she was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Known for her gentle spirit, she had a heart full of love for her family, patients, and community. Her boys, Kyle Cox and Connor Dennison, were her world. She was so proud of the young men they had become. And she also cherished her granddaughters, Kallie, Eliana and Paisley. Her family meant everything to her.

Debbie was an avid nature lover. She enjoyed the beach, mountains and just sitting outside with a cup of coffee. Her outdoor hobbies included fishing, hunting, scuba diving, gardening, and walking in nature. She had a huge heart for animals and was known for bringing home injured or homeless animals- including squirrels and a baby deer!

She was also an amazing cook and loved cooking for family. Her cornbread dressing was the staple at holiday meals as well as many other special dishes she made. She came up with many creative recipes and enjoyed cooking alongside family.

Debbie was a very strong person and she fought her battle gracefully. She never complained and enjoyed her last year and a half spending time with family and growing in her relationship with God. She blessed others with her peaceful presence and was always there to listen and give advice. She also was known for her jokes and was always so much fun to be around. Many memories of great times with her will always be cherished.

Debbie will be remembered not only for her dedication to her work, but also for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering support to those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a blessing to all.

She is survived by her loving family, friends, and colleagues, all of whom cherished her deeply. In addition to her two sons, Kyle Cox and Connor Dennison, Debbie is survived by her granddaughters-Kallie Cox, Eliana Cox and Paisley Cox, her father, Clyde Smith, her sisters-Rita Daniel (Jim) and Donna Buss (Tom), her nieces and nephews -Leslie Harrison (Rodney, Rylan, Brooklyn and Adalyn), the late Nikki Scrivener (Matthew, Luke and Blake), Chad Daniel, Cameron Buss, Christopher Buss and Caroline Buss, as well as many cousins.
