This year’s Farm to Table Dinner was held on Thursday, September 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Fyrne Lake’s Lanai venue. All proceeds from the event benefit Healing Horses, Inc., a non-profit corporation whose mission includes “goals of enhancing the lives of individuals with special needs through equine-assisted therapy.”
Healing Horses Executive Director Sonya Burks expressed her gratitude for all those in attendance, remarking on the nearly 200 guests and volunteers gathered for an evening of fellowship, food, and live music.
Special thanks were extended to all of this year’s sponsors, FFA students from both Dyersburg and Dyer County, and all who provided food and assistance during the event.
Located at 225 Parker Rd. in RoEllen, Healing Horses Inc. was founded by Burks in 2014 in an effort to provide equine therapy to individuals with disabilities and special needs. Burks is a PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) certified instructor.
Funds from the Farm to Table event go toward maintenance and maintaining the horses, including feed, hay, farrier expenses, horse health care, tack, helmets, and much more.
In addition to this year’s many sponsors, special thanks were extended to Tiffany Pride and the Dyersburg-Dyer County Chamber of Commerce, Brittany Atkins, Shannon Fox, Dyer County Fair Board, Katherine McGuire, The Mustard Company Store, First Citizens National Bank IT Dept., Wayde Jackson, Dyersburg/Dyer County FFA, Lily’s Garden, Fyrne Lake, the Mustard Seed staff, Healing Horses Board of Directors, Richard and Connie Donner, Mitch Cox, Matt Willis, and AG Photography.
