SPECIAL TO THE STATE GAZETTE

September is officially designated as TN College Application & Exploration Month in Tennessee, and Dyer County High School (DCHS) kicked off the event by hosting a college fair for juniors and seniors on Wednesday, September 11. The event provided students the opportunity to meet with representatives from various colleges, explore their options for higher education, and gain valuable insights into the application process.

Dyer County High School extends its gratitude to all the college partners who took time out of their day to visit and engage with students. Their participation made the event a success and provided students with crucial information to help guide their college decisions.

As part of this statewide initiative, many colleges in Tennessee will be waiving their application fees next week, allowing every graduating senior the opportunity to apply to college without the barrier of application costs. This offers students a significant chance to pursue their higher education goals at no extra cost.

Students are encouraged to take full advantage of this opportunity as they plan for their future.

In addition, Dyer County High School is encouraging all grade levels to show their support during College Application Week by participating in themed dress-up days:

Monday, September 16th: Military Appreciation Day – Wear camo to show support for the armed forces.

Tuesday, September 17th: Little You Day – Dress like your younger self.

Wednesday, September 18th: College Wear – Represent your favorite college by wearing college gear.

Thursday, September 19th: Future Career Day – Dress as your future career.

Friday, September 20th: School Spirit Day – Wear orange and white to show your Choctaw pride.

Students of all grades are encouraged to get involved and show their enthusiasm for both college exploration and school spirit throughout the week.
