Three Dyer County High School students recently received College Board recognition after receiving high scores following rigorous testing in subjects of Advanced Placement [AP] Human Geography, English Language and Composition, and Macroeconomics.

11th-grade student Matthew Atkins received National First-Generation recognition in AP Human Geography under instructor Josh Lents. Sebastian Smith, also in the 11th grade, received National African American recognition in AP Human Geography.

Senior Angelie Dykes received two recognitions, National First Generation and National Rural and Small Town. Dykes tested in AP Macroeconomics (online) and AP English Language and Composition under the instruction of Hilary Norrid. She is the only Dyer County High School student to ever be recognized for achieving recognition on this level for macroeconomics.

Testing took place in May of 2024 and lasted roughly 2-3 hours. Globally, over 250K students tested in AP Human Geography, with nearly 600K testing in AP English Language Composition.
