With the start of the 2024 TSSAA High School Football Season just over a month away, teams from across Tennessee are getting ready to make the move towards full-contact practice as they wrapped up their workouts this week in helmets and shorts. Locally, both the Dyer County Choctaws and Dyersburg Trojans have been working over the past two weeks to get ready for next week’s workouts, which will see the Choctaws and Trojans transition into helmets and shoulder pads by the second half of the week.

Following next week’s acclimation week, the Choctaws and Trojans will transition into full-pad practice the following week, which will end on Aug. 2 with the team’s first scrimmages. Dyer County will travel to Munford on Friday, Aug. 2 while Dyersburg will make the trip over to Lexington the same evening.

Trojan assistant coach Lafe Morgan talks to scout team receivers during defensive practice on Wednesday morning at J.C. Sawyers Stadium.
