Bobie G. House

June 9, 1940 – July 4, 2024

Bobie G. House, age 84, of Dyersburg, TN passed away on July 4, 2024 at his home in Flat Rock, NC surrounded by his family.

SMSgt. Bobie House served his country for 23 years in the United States Air Force, including a tour in Vietnam. While serving in the military, he earned a B.S. degree from Chaminade University of Honolulu, HI.

After his retirement, Bobie enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and landscaping his yard with beautiful flowers and trees.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Peggy Seratt House; two children, Bob House, Jr. (Donna) and Janet House Samples (Ed); four grandchildren, Nicole House Claunch, Stephen House, Matthew Samples, Morgan Samples Johnson; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother.

He will be remembered for his devotion to God, his family and his country.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Cornerstone Church of God in Dyersburg, TN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Cornerstone Church of God.

J. D. Stephens

J. D. Stephens, 83, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, November 9, 1940, in Finley, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Briscoe Stephens and the late Capitola Flatt Stephens. Mr. Stephens was a retired Federal and State Railroad Inspector, where he worked for thirty years. He was an avid golfer and was a  member of West Tennessee Seniors Golf Association.  He enjoyed woodworking  and  training horses but the times he treasured the most were those spent with his grandchildren.  Mr. Stephens proudly served his country in the United States Navy and he was a devoted member of  the Newbern Methodist Church.

Funeral services for Mr. Stephens will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 22, 2024, at the Newbern Methodist Church. Officiating this service will be Rev. Tyler Neely .Interment, with military honors, will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home and on Monday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Newbern Methodist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-seven  years, Barbara Bradshaw Stephens of Newbern, Tennessee: two sons, Bob Williams (Pam) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Greg Williams (Khristy) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two sisters, Bobbye Wallace of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Joy Jones of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, Cara Hassell (Patrick), Wesley Williams (McKenzie), Kristen Lanier (Eric), Lynlee Ashley (Nathan), Leah Schultz (William) Taylor Baker (Todd) and Chase Joy (Elysse): six great-grandchildren, Tucker Hassell, Adelyn Hassell, Marvin Henry Schultz, Barrett Joy, Walker Baker and soon to join the family in November, Corum Ashley. a nephew, who he considered as his son, Steve Tickle and a host of nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Scott Williams, and one grandson, Jon Coffman.

Honoring Mr. Stephens as pallbearers will be  Wesley Williams, Steve Tickle, Patrick Hassell, Eric Lanier, Nathan Ashley, Chase Joy William Schultz and Todd Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be David Hayes, Dave Clark, Tony Robertson and Pat English.

The family ask that memorial contributions be directed  to the charity of their choice.

Juanita Baker Taylor Gibson

Juanita Baker Taylor Gibson, 80, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Monday, July 15, 2024, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Graveside services for Mrs. Gibson will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Bro. Loren Stephens. Visitation will be held on Monday from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

Bettye Ruth Dodson Joy

Bettye Ruth Daniels Dodson, 76, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Dodson will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Lenox Baptist Church in Lenox, Tennessee. Officiating the service will be Mr. Jeremy Dodson.
