With the TSSAA high school football season approaching next month, teams from Northwest Tennessee along with others throughout the state will get their last reps before the games count in Week 1 as both local high schools will be in action on Friday, Aug. 16 in jamboree action to close the preseason.

Locally, eight teams will converge on Dyersburg’s J.C. Sawyers Stadium for the annual STAR Physical Therapy-West Tennessee Bone and Joint Clinic High School Football Jamboree which kicks off at 6 p.m. on Aug. 16, just one week ahead of the Week 1.

Local fans here in Dyer County will have their teams bookending the schedule of four games.

The action gets underway when Dyer County takes on Lake County in the opening game of the evening.

Following the Choctaws-Falcons action, Crockett County takes on Brighton in the second game of the evening. The third contest of the event features Munford taking on Westview.

The final game of the night sees one of the area’s rivalries renew, albeit for a half, as the hosting Dyersburg Trojans take on Obion County Central to close out the evening of action.

The rules for the Star Physical Therapy-West Tennessee Bone & Joint Clinic High School Football Jamboree are:

* Each game will consist of two 20-minute running clock halves. The clock will stop the last two minutes of the half. Each team will have two timeouts each half.

* There will be five minutes between each half and game.

* No rush and no return on punts. Also no rush for extra points or field goals.

* Offense will start on the 30-yard line.

* No ball will be downed inside of the 20-yard line (example: fair catch fielded inside the 10 will be placed on the 20).

* Possession will be flipped at the end of the first half.
