Bessie Pearl Peevyhouse Wright

Bessie Pearl Peevyhouse Wright (February 26, 1935 – July 13, 2024)

With great sorrow, we share the news that Bessie Pearl Peevyhouse Wright passed away on July 13, 2024. She was born to Ms. Allie Albritton Holman Peevyhouse and Mr. Arch Peevyhouse on February 26, 1935, at her home in Mason Hall, TN. Bessie attended Mason Hall High School, where she was a cheerleader and known for her hijinks. After graduation, she married her sweetheart, Owen Wright, on June 29th, 1953.

Bessie was a true Christian, and her love for the Lord was unwavering. For many recent years, she attended The House of Prayer in Mayfield, KY, and considered the folks there as her church family. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life.

In addition to caring for her husband, Owen, Bessie had devoted several years to caring for her mother-in-law and served as a caregiver to numerous older friends. Her compassion extended beyond duty; she loved the elderly as if they were her own family. Her kindness knew no bounds.

Bessie was not only a caregiver but also an excellent cook. Some of her specialties were chicken and dressing and cherry cobblers. She had a green thumb and found great pleasure in gardening and tending to flowers. Her love for reading enriched her life. She enjoyed puzzles and her sense of humor brightened the days of those around her. Practical jokes were her specialty.

She is survived by her son, Steven, of Paducah, KY, and daughter, Cheryl Wright, of Kenton, TN, as well as many children of her heart. Her brother, Billy Peevyhouse of Paducah, KY, and her six grandchildren - Lindsay, Megan, Jacob, Dylan, and Holly Wright, and Nathaniel Beeks—will forever hold her in their hearts. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Dottie Mae Carlin, James, Finis, and Sherwood Holman, her husband Owen, two children Kenneth Wright and Lisa Wright Beeks, and grandson Lucas Wright.

Gifts and memorials may be given to The House of Prayer, Mayfield, KY or The Gideons International. May the memory of Bessie Wright be a blessing to all who knew her.
