James Doris Climer

James Doris Climer, 84, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at his residence.

James was born on October 30, 1939, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late Rabon and Katie Bell Williams Climer. He was retired from the Plastic Department of Poly One and was a member of Fort Hudson Baptist Church. James loved fishing, watching westerns and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a great husband, father and grandfather.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2024 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Don Layman and Bro. Neal Chatham officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. The family received visitors beginning at 12 p.m. until service time.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sarah Climer of Dyersburg, TN; a son, Scott Climer of Maury City, TN; four daughters, Kelly Throgmorton (Chris) of Halls, TN, Suzie McWherter (Tom) of Dresden, TN, Penny Climer of Maury City, TN and Tracy Hinson (Kenny) of Dyersburg, TN; nine grandchildren, Kristen Emison, Clint Throgmorton, Katie Flatt, Brian McWherter, Jordan McWherter, Seth Hinson, Callie Hinson, Kaleb Hinson and Megan Turnage; and eleven great-grandchildren, Nolan Throgmorton, Charloette Throgmorton, Chapman Throgmorton, Lorelai Throgmorton, Greyson Howie, Fisher Flatt, Farah Flatt, Ben Emison, Amelia Emison, Owen Hinson and James Howie.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by six brothers, Wesley Climer, Robert Climer, Elbert Climer, Eugene Climer, Everett Climer and Tommy Climer; and three sisters, Helen Forsythe, Effie May Taylor and Eloise Ballard.

Serving as pallbearers were Clint Throgmorton, Brian McWherter, Seth Hinson, Jordan McWherter, Kaleb Hinson and his special friend, Tony Leake.

Linda Tubbs Bell

Linda Tubbs Bell, 75,  of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Friday, July 5th, 2024, at AHC of Dyersburg in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Tuesday, March 29th, 1949, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Mitchell Tubbs and the late Bettye Jean Kenney Tubbs. She was a devoted employee of the Tennessee Department of Employment Security in Dyersburg, Tennessee for many years. She loved her horses, beautiful flowers, and anything with bling. She was a talented artist and enjoyed ceramics and painting. In addition, Linda's passion was raising Scottish Terriers. She raised, showed, and judged them for many years; she was a respected member of the Scottish Terrier Club of America. Mrs. Bell was a member of Fort Hudson Baptist Church.

Graveside services for Mrs. Bell will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tennessee.  Officiating the service will be Rev. Scott Owen.  Visitation for Mrs. Bell will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, Tennessee.

She is survived by two sisters, Paula Tubbs Hooper of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Mickey Tubbs Jones (Donald) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; her son, by choice, Joe Markham (Dana) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; two nieces, Jamey Jones Attaway, (Jeremy) and Jenney Jones Beasley; and great nieces and nephews, Abigail Willard, Bailey Willard, Brayden Beasley, Blake Attaway, and Lilley Bett Jones.

Mrs. Bell leaves two especially dear friends to cherish her memory, Elizabeth Summers of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Doreen Pritchett of Texas. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty-eight years, Captain Larry G. Bell.

Pallbearers will be Abigail Willard and Bailey Willard.

In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Bell's family requests donations be sent to Scottie Rescue.
