James William Tinkle

James William (J.W.) Tinkle was born February 10, 1933 in Trenton, Tennessee. He was the youngest of 5 children of Hubert Hardy Tinkle and Bertha Bowen Tinkle. At the age of 91, J.W. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 22nd in Athens, AL.

After leaving high school, he joined the United States Navy and served during the Korean War as a Seaman aboard the USS Higbee. When J.W. returned from the war, he worked with the railroad as a Switchman before starting his career with the United States Postal Service (USPS).

After his career with the USPS, he retired at the age of 55 and moved to his “mountain” in Rogersville, AL.

During his retirement years, he traveled extensively with his longtime companion of 30 years, Lilly Glover, of Germantown, TN. He also worked at Joe Wheeler Golf Course in Rogersville as a starter, a perfect part- time position since he was an avid golfer and was able to spend time with his son, James Tinkle, who was a superintendent at the same course.

J.W. is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Mary “Tootsie” Chilcutt and Sue Hopkins and his brothers, Elmer and Kelmer Tinkle; and his son, James Robert Tinkle.

He is survived by his daughters, Pam Hertenstein (Kris), Pat Grubbs, Kelly Berry (Rick), and his son, Lee Tinkle (Liz) and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Tinkle. Known as Papa Jim, he is also survived by his grandchildren Brittany and Cody Tinkle, Taylor and Ryleigh Berry, and Steven Tinkle; great grandchildren, Bradley James and Jayden Tinkle, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and his dear friend and caregiver, Karen Saunders.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held in Memphis, Tennessee at a later date.

Carolyn T. Norman

Carolyn T. Norman, 75, of Dyersburg, died Monday, May 27, 2024 at Regional One in Memphis. She was born November 23, 1948 in Memphis. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Carolyn was a member of Dyersburg Noon Rotary and was a former City of Dyersburg Alderwoman and Dyer County Commissioner. She was also a volunteer of Habitat for Humanity in Northwest Tennessee. Carolyn was a retired Mortgage Lender for over 35 years. She took pride in helping her friends and clients achieve the American dream of home ownership.

Visitation for Carolyn will be Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Curry Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be private.

She is survived by her daughter, Courtney Babbitt (Brad) and her grandchildren, Jacob Cole Tribble (Sarah), Lindsey Paige Babbitt and Avery Kate Babbitt.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Lewis Norman.

Patty Johnson

Patty Johnson, 74, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Monday, May 27, 2024, at The Bay in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Monday, September 19, 1949, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Vance Reasons and the late Frances Laverne Turner Reasons. Mrs. Johnson was a retired employee of Forcum Lannom Materials and Proforma. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 31, 2024, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Dr. Phillip Cook. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Zenia Cathey McKinley (Michael) of Punta Gorda, Florida; one stepson, Eloiett Johnson, II (Sally) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one step--daughter, Lisa Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee; two sisters, Wanda Kay Wilkerson of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Peggy Linda Seratt of Dyersburg, Tennessee and she was "Granny" to her nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Eloiett Johnson and one daughter, Michelle Radermacher Montgomery.

Honoring Mrs. Johnson as pallbearers will be Glen Phillips, Dennis Davin, Tommy Seratt, Tyler Seratt, Brandon Blalock, and Terry Johnson.

James Robert Ford

James Robert "Jimmy" Ford, 70, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.  A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at  5:00 PM on Thursday, May 30, 2024 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.  Officiating the service will be Rev. Tim Nichols.  Visitation for Mr. Ford will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Thursday, May 30, 2024 also at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, Tennessee.  Johnson-Williams Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of James Robert "Jimmy" Ford.

Robert L. Taylor

Mr. Robert L. Taylor, 71, passed on May 25, 2024 at West TN Healthcare in Dyersburg. The service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11am at Thompson’s Mortuary Chapel in Ripley, TN. Visitation will start on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Thompson’s Mortuary in Ripley, TN from 10am till 11am.
