All charges against Philip Hutcheson (51) of Dyersburg, accused of aggravated assault, were dropped in Dyersburg City Court on July 12. A Prosecutor for the District Attorney’s Office, Laura Clemmons, said that the state was dismissing charges because the alleged victim had moved to Illinois and had not responded to a subpoena. Dyersburg City Court Judge Dean Dedmon accepted the state’s move and advised Hutcheson that he could now apply for expungement.

In February 2024, an Affidavit of Complaint was filed in Municipal Court, the Dyersburg Police Department (DPD) charging Hutcheson with “aggravated assault.” According to the affidavit, “the defendant [allegedly] intentionally, knowingly, and recklessly attempted to run the victim over with his vehicle.” Further, the document said that Hutcheson allegedly pulled a gun on the male victim, that Hutcheson asked said victim whether he was “ready to die.” At that time, the DPD claimed to have video evidence of the incident.
