Jackson Area MMA show Saturday to benefit Trimble Lions Club
The Trimble Lions Club is teaming with Jackson Area Mixed Martial Arts to raise money for the Lions Club's service projects. The two organizations are coming together to put on a mixed martial arts cage-fighting show at Northview Middle School on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m.
David Butler is the Lions Club vice district governor of West Tennessee and the Trimble club's president and is ready for the fights to begin.
"I'm excited about this, that way the Lions' name is out there," said Butler.
The fights consist of two fighters skilled in different martial arts going toe to toe in a steel cage with unified ISKA sanctioning rules. Fighters are allowed to punch, kick, slam, choke, or use joint manipulation against one another. The winner is determined when one fighter gets knocked out, taps out (submits), or when the referee stops the fight in the fighters' interest. These fights are all sanctioned by the ISKA and the state of Tennessee. The card for Nov. 14, Saturday night will feature local favorites and fighters from the Southeast region, Kentucky, Missouri, and Georgia.
Local area fighters on the card include Chris Littles, Daniel Garrison and Matt Myers. All three of these fighters are from Newbern and surrounding areas.
There will also be a super-heavyweight title match with over 650 pounds in the cage.
The card is tentatively set as:
1. James Wallace (g) vs Nick Randle (g)
2. Jeremy Moore (0-1) vs Hank Greg (1-0)
4. Reese Davis (0-1) Team Rage vs Robert Greg (0-1) Knockout
5. Sammy Hua (g) Striketeam vs Joshua Butler (g) Team Rage
6. Joey Martin (0-3) vs Cody White (1-0)
7. Daniel Garrison (3-2) 205
8. Matt Meyers (1-0) Relentless 195 vs Rob Gary (3-2) Knockout
9. Jimmy Davis (7-2) Outlaw vs Kellen Holmes (7-5) Striketeam

Butler helped build up Memphis Championship Wrestling, but said this is the real deal.
"It's the world's largest civic service organization sponsoring the world's fastest growing sport," said Butler.
