Expansion of the city's water and sewer lines into the North Industrial Park took a step closer on Monday when the Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to execute a resolution to apply for a state grant in preparation for the addition of NSK Steering Systems to the city's industrial base.
City attorney John Lannom explained the approval was needed to get an $802,400 Fast Track Infrastructure grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. The city will have to match 21 percent of the amount, or $168,504.
Lannom said NSK had formally contacted TDEC to seek the funding, noting a capital investment of almost $12 million and an expected 150 jobs by November 2007, when operations get under way.
