Trimble Elementary students get lessons in money thanks to the TNFLC and UT Extension (4/29/24)Trimble Elementary first and second graders got lessons on managing finances during “Money Week” at the school. The educators at Trimble taught the students how to count money, how to spend responsibly, and how to save. With the help of books and materials supplied by the Tennessee Financial Literacy Commission (TNFLC) and the UT Extension, teachers put students on the path to healthy money management.

Dyer County Mayor, District Attorney’s Office gather to affirm victims’ rights (4/26/24)District Attorney Danny Goodman, Jr., members of his office, victims’ rights advocates, and Dyer County Mayor gathered at Pocket Park in downtown Dyersburg to honor victims and to proclaim support for crime victims’ right. The gathering featured statements by Goodman, victim witness coordinators, and advocates. Featured too was a proclamation from Quick declaring Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

Nearly 200 animals receive vaccinations thanks to Paws to Care, Petco Love (4/28/24)1On Saturday, April 27, Paws to Care Inc., a local nonprofit 501c3 volunteer-based animal welfare organization, partnered with national nonprofit Petco Love to give pets their best shot for a healthy life by hosting a free pet vaccine event. Throughout the event, 150 dogs and 33 cats received vaccination shots. The event took place at the former location of Nauvoo Pet Resort, located at 945 Harris Road.

DHS student Presley Dishman signs with Bethel on Renaissance Scholarship (5/2/24)1Dyersburg High School senior Presley Dishman recently signed with Bethel University on a Renaissance Scholarship. In attendance from Bethel were Associate Renaissance Director Dr. Scott Sheppard and Talent Scout Hannah Mills. Dishman was also joined by her family, friends, classmates, teachers, DHS Principal Kamela Rogers, and Dyersburg Mayor John Holden. Very few Dyersburg students have received vocal scholarships to Bethel in past years.
